Low Cal Drive Thru: Kentucky Grilled Chicken

Yesterday, I was simply dying for some fried chicken. I had gone to a party the day before and had some fried pork (boy was that a mistake!) and this just kicked up a nasty craving. So I decided to see if there was something I could eat that was low-calorie at KFC. I quickly looked up the KFC Nutrition Guide on my iPhone. I assumed their Grilled Chicken would be the way to go and I was right.

I ordered 3 chicken drumsticks (90 calories each) and a side of green beans (only 25 calories!!!). I forgot how yummy their green beans are. I ordered the meal so they threw in a biscuit (180 calories) and a side of baked beans (210 calories) as well (tricky tricky!). Then they ran out of drumsticks so they gave me a thigh instead (170 calories). Well this threw me completely off so I went home and gave my biscuit to my sister and the thigh to my dad and dumped out half the baked beans (sorry, I couldn't resist the yummy BBQ flavor). Turned out 2 drumsticks, green beans and half a baked bean side were enough to satisfy my craving after all! (310 calories total)

Now, I do NOT recommend this as a healthy every-day or even twice a week meal. It is still high in sodium and fat content, but when a craving threatens to throw you completely off your low-calorie diet, this is a nice fix to get you through the day and back on schedule the next day. I find if I let a nasty craving sit too long, I end up giving up and/or overeating a ton of junk which is no good for anyone.

What is your worst craving?
